Interior repairs and replacements
As stated previously the thieves that stole the car gutted the interior. They removed door panels, firewall cover, seats, stereo, steering wheel, shift knob and either cracked or broke instrument cluster fascias.
A replacement set of leather seats were acquired, door panels from a wrecked 88 coupe, a stock firewall cover from an 86 parts car was refurbished and the fascias were repaired, sanded and painted.
We installed a new steering wheel along with all of the other parts listed above. Shift boot was re-sewn and the shift fascia was re-constructed.
The tachometer was recalibrated by installing a new crystal to give us proper readings for our new V-8! The speedo was upgraded with a new custom gauge face and crystal.
Minor scratches and abrasions on various leather pieces have been repaired and all of the leather was treated to several applications of McGuiar's Leather cleaner and conditioner.
The trunk also received attention. A heat shield was fabricated from a stock heat shield and installed on the under side of the trunk. Since we had cut the well out of the trunk the carpeting needed modification as well. The bottom end of the formed carpeting was measured, fit and cut. It was laid back down, overlapping front to back and secured in place to give some extra insulation and finish off the interior of the new trunk.
